We, as the Rectors of universities of the Turkish Republic, condemn the tyrannical, barbarous, and inhumane genocide committed before the eyes of the world, which Israel recommenced right after the ceasefire and prisoner swap deal effectuated on November 24, 2023.

We, the academic community of Türkiye, strongly condemn Israel’s continuation of inhumane attacks against the Palestinian people which increased during the recent period, and within this framework, its attack on 17 October 2023, targeting the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza which resulted in the killing and injury of hundreds of Palestinian civilians, including babies, children and women.

The massacre of hundreds of innocent Palestinians in a ruthless attack by Israel which targeted the Al-Ahli Hospital and civilians in Gaza on the evening of October 17 is a crime against humanity. We strongly condemn this attack and feel great pain and shame that this long-lasting human tragedy has reached the level of genocide. We share the grief and sorrow of our Palestinian students and their families who are an integral part of the Bahçeşehir University community, and we urge the humanity to stand against violence and take responsibility.
