Dear Students,
In our globalized world, the priority of the Modern Languages Department, which is a part of School of Foreign Languages of Bahçeşehir University , has become administering a language education that would develop and reinforce your language skills and thus support you academically throughout your university education as well as your professional undertaking.
In our department, either Basic or Academic English courses are offered to our students according to the language of instruction of their faculty. The aim of the Academic English courses is to have students learn how to blend their Basic English skills, which they have previously acquired, with academic communication skills, in a way that would assist them in other courses throughout their university life. Thus, our students may develop their academic language skills by gaining familiarity with interdisciplinary studies in an intercultural classroom environment.
In the departments of the university whose media of instruction are Turkish, Basic English skills are taught besides some department specific content and terminology in order to help them excel in their studies and in their professional lives that they will embark on after graduation.
In Modern Languages Department, while trying to increase the quality and accessibility of the language education with technology-supported platforms, an environment in which students can study and practice apart from their course hours and internalize what they have learned in the courses is created. Also, utilizing these technology-supported platforms, our students can communicate with the instructor of their courses whenever such a need arises.
All our courses in Department of Modern Languages are frequently updated and developed by our experienced instructors according to the needs of our students. In this context, as the Department of Modern Languages, we act in cooperation with all faculties and departments of our university and subsume their needs and incorporate their feedback.
I’d like to remind you that as Modern Languages Department, we work intensively in order to fulfill our responsibility to equip you with the knowledge and skills which you will need in your academic and professional life; and we are always ready to help and guide you.
