According to the report of Bahcesehir University's Economic and Social Research Center (Betam); Non-agricultural unemployment according to seasonally adjusted labor force, Period of August 2014 compared to the previous quarter fell 0.1 percentage points to 12.4 percent level.
In the report prepared by Prof. Seyfettin Gursel director of Bahcesehir University Economic and Social Research Center (Betam), Zümrüt İmamoğlu and RA Ayşenur Acar, mostly large increase in employment is due to the decreasing in the industry for a while and the increasing of slowing construction employment. The increases of employment in services are continuing but although not strong, so it is observed a decrease in unemployment, albeit limited. Employment growth is consistent with a view of watching the economy started to recover in the third quarter, and unemployment is expected to trend horizontal in the coming days.
STRONG GROWTH IN LABOUR FORCE AND EMPLOYMENT
According to the labor force that described in the data of TUIK, in the period of August 2014, non-agricultural labor force compared to the same period of the previous year increased, 1 million 542 thousand (7.1 percent), non-agricultural employment increased by 1 million 112 thousand people (5.7 percent), the number of non-agricultural unemployed increased by 430 thousand per years. In the period of July 2014, non-agricultural labor force was observed for the first time in a high rise close to 1.5 million and the increase in the period of August 2014 seems to be continuing this level.
LIMITED DECLİNE OF NON- AGRICULTURAL UNEMPLOYMENT
According to the seasonally adjusted data compared with the period of July-August period non-agricultural labor force increased by 83 thousand and it has been 23 million 62 thousand. Non-agricultural employment increased by 96 thousand and it is around 20 million 465 thousand. In the report prepared by the director of Bahcesehir University's Economic and Social Research Center (Betam) Prof. Dr. Seyfettin Gursel, Zümrüt İmamoğlu and RA Ayşenur Acar stated that, number of non-agricultural unemployed decreased by 13 thousand, non-agricultural unemployment rate decreased 0.1 percent points compared in the period of August 2014 to the period July 2014 and reached the level of 12.4 percentage. Since the period of March 2014 non-agricultural employment, which is shows descending or a limited increase to meet the increase in non-agricultural labor force in this period, caused that the non-agricultural unemployment fall slightly.
UNEMPLOYMENT’S TREND WİLL BE HORİZONTAL IN THE PERIOD SEPTEMBER
Within the forecasting models prepared by Bahcesehir University Economic and Social Research Center, used in kariyer.net upward trend since January the number of applicants per vacancy in the data series continued to rise in July and August, showing a stable trend since September. According to the Betam’s estimate, model of unemployment is estimated to be horizontal in the coming period.
