Diabetes is one of the most important health problems that threaten human health, showed a 6-fold increase in the last 40 years, according to research. The number of diabetic patients in the world is 382 million in 2013, in 2035 it is estimated to rise to 592 million.

In Turkey, in 2035 this figure is expected to reach about 12 million.

Before the "14 November World Diabetes Day" data obtained reveals a gloomy picture of the diabetes.

The number of people with diabetes in the next 20 years, according to figures will increase by 55 percent worldwide.

Bahcesehir University Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Professor Dr. Orhan Babucçuhighlighted that diabetesaffect the entire body in a systematic manner and he draws attention to that due to diabetes the many organs unusable.

Babucçu said,  " The largest cause of feet amputation (cut) for medical reasons is diabetes in the world. 15 percent of diabetic patients occur at least one-foot wounds during the disease.

The wound (consisting of diabetic foot) foot in the period following the 7 per cent to 20 per cent of the foot is forced to cut any level."

Prof. Dr. Orhan Babucçu indicated that if the measures not taken, the problem may be more serious, he said, "First of all, loss of sensation in the feet, numbness, burning or discomfort, such as tingling, sugar nerves leading to the patient's feet signs that the disease begins to affect.

Due to this reason, diabetic patients with orthopedic disorders in the foot, corns, nail and skin care issues are very important."

AYAKKABI SATIN ALMAYA AKŞAM SAATLERİNDE GİDİLMELİ

Babutcu indicated that shoes choice is the one of the most important steps for foot care and in your choice of the right shoe, you should not choose the evening that the feet maximum swollen and thus the most comfortable shoes can be found, he is warning, " the fingers inside the shoe should be able to move easily.

Heels should be seated on the heel portion of the shoe and the heel should be lower than 5 cm. Should avoid high-heeled shoes and shoes that cause pain, redness or blistering should not wear.

Laced or Velcro shoes should be preferred to hold the feet more securely in shoes.

Cotton socks should be preferred for shoes and socks tires should not be tight enough to prevent the blood circulation in the leg or ankle. "

NAILS CAN SIGN ANOTHER DISEASE IN THE BODY

Babutcu indicated, that many diseases can be seen in the nail at the same time the body will be able to sign in to any disease elsewhere, he warned,  "the deformity, the horn is not in itself a disease similar extension but can cause scarring that will have very dangerous consequences in shoes.

Discoloration, deformation, ingrown toenail fungus, or in such cases must be referred to medical assistance.”

NOT HEALING WOUNDS CAN HARBINGER OF SKIN CANCER

Babutcu indicated, that the skin of the foot tend to dry in diabetic patients, he said,  "Causing cracks in the feet dry and germs into these cracks can cause serious infections. In these cases, the humidifier must be used.

It can be an invitation to fungal infections in the feet increases the risk of excessive sweating. The most important methods for the prevention of fungal, to not touch the ground with bare feet and not to share our shoes and slippers with others.

Other skin disorders on foot are wart or calluses.

Patients who encounter such a question should definitely try to treat themselves.

Another issue that needs to be careful is not healing wounds on the foot.  This type of wounds should be precursor of skin cancer. "

About diabetes it is not enough to pay attention to foot care only.

Blood glucose control should be carried out in a very strict manner.

Also blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels are quite important.

Most important to be left entirely to the use of cigarettes and alcohol.
