Andrew Lawrence is Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at Cambridge University, UK representative on the European Timber Design Code Committee, and lead author for the new edition of Appraisal & Repair of Timber Structures published by the ICE. He is also a Conservation Accredited Engineer with significant expertise in the assessment of existing timber, concrete, iron, and masonry structures.
He is committed to working across the industry to help improve the safety and sustainability of construction. He chairs the working group for the new European standards on the Execution of Timber Structures and is involved in research into the fire safety and robustness of timber, as well as the structural use of bamboo.
