Archi Design Talks BAU - II will be held on October 21, Monday. Assoc. Prof. Ela Kaçel will make a presentation with the title "Photography as Site: Self-Localization and Memory of Migration".
Considering approaches on memory from cultural, architectural and photography theories, the photograph can be interpreted as a site of memory and of self-reflection. In this talk which is part of her research project funded by DAAD and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Ela Kaçel will investigate the self portraits of both migrants and photographers from 1960s to 70s in Germany and how self-representation, memory and localities are constructed in the practice of taking snapshots.
