IAESTE (the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience), a non-profit, independent, and impartial technical intern student exchange organization was established in 1948 at Imperial College London in England with the initiatives of many countries. Today, IAESTE, which continues its activities in approximately 80 countries including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, offers thousands of students the opportunity to do internships in different countries through the exchange. IAESTE A.s.b.l. has a confederation structure consisting of a combination of national committees representing the common interests of academia, industry, and university students. Today, IAESTE has an international network covering more than 4000 students, 3000 internship institutions, and 1000 educational institutions on an annual basis.
Turkey joined IAESTE in 1953 and became a full member in 1955. IAESTE Turkey, which continues its activities in our country under the name of “Milletlerarası Teknik Stajyer Öğrenci Mübadelesi Birliği”, works with the support of a national committee representing academic institutions, industry organizations, and students.
The primary purpose of IAESTE is to exchange internships in technical fields, and one of its most important advantages is to bring together students as future engineers, architects, and managers from different countries in order to provide social and cultural sharing and rapprochement. Creating an opportunity to get to know different countries and cultures, IAESTE also aims to contribute to the personal development of students.
Bahçeşehir University is one of the 55 universities that are members of the IAESTE Turkey committee and offers international internship opportunities to the students of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Architecture and Design.
