BAU has transformed online and hybrid education into a professional system in Turkey and it has opened the Distance Education and Hybrid Education Center on April 6.
Bahçeşehir University has been using the Hybrid Educational Model for many years in Turkey and now it is preparing to operate as the center of digital education in a private building built entirely on technological development.
BAU Hybrid Educational Center will be the first Start-up center in education technology in the world, transforming online education into a professional system will be contributing to distance education in both Turkey and around the World.
Microsoft, who has been working with BAU during this digital transformation progress, emphasized that Bahçeşehir University is the pioneer of hybrid education in Turkey.
In the Distance Education and Hybrid Education Center, there are two hybrid classrooms, a computer lab, a glass classroom, a virtual classroom, a smart classroom, studios, and a co-working area. Students can connect to hybrid classrooms and computer labs using both the internet and physically participation. Microsoft-based, high-spec virtual computers are provided to students who want to take classes in virtual laboratories but do not have a suitable computer.
The system used in one of the rooms inside hybrid and virtual classrooms have the same principle as Harvard’s. Students connect to three large virtual screens placed in the classroom. There is also an academician present in the classroom physically and he manages the room from the tablet he uses.
Another feature of the virtual classroom is that it offers the opportunity to make reservations using tablets that are placed at the doors. Thus, the red light will be on and the name of the academician using the room appears.
Green Box and Prob Box applications are used in the established studios. Thanks to these applications, materials suitable for the subject of the lesson can be selected and replaced. The academician can create a studio environment by placing any material he wishes to reinforce the subject he is telling.
There is a Future Learning Lab in the center, which the European Union defines as the class of the future. While the academician makes a presentation during the lesson, a group of students can study in the other sections of the room, another group of students can record and edit their green boxes.
BAU is the first university to establish virtual laboratories in Turkey. An expert teaching staff is being prepared by consulting; training technologists, experts from the Cinema and Television field of BAU Faculty of Communication, psychologists, and pedagogues.
