1. I am a vocational school/undergraduate student. Under what circumstances am I allowed to take a make-up exam?
-If you have missed a final exam /final exams that you were granted due to a reported/excused absence,
- If you have received grade (F) for a course/courses,
you can take make-up exams.
- If your GPA is below 2.00/4.00, you are allowed to take make-up exams for the courses that you have received (C-), (D) and (D+) for as well as the classes that you have received (F) for.
-If your GPA is above 2.00/4.00, you can take make-up exams only for the courses that you have received (F) for.
2. I am a graduate student. Under what circumstances can I take make-up exams?
If you have missed a final exam /final exams that you were granted due to a reported/ excused absence ,
- If you have received grade (F) for a course/courses,
you can take make-up exams.
- If your GPA is below 3.00/4.00, you are allowed to take make-up exams for the courses that you have received (B-), (C+) and (C) for as well as the classes that you have received (F) for.
-If your GPA is above 3.00/4.00, you can take make-up exams only for the courses that you have received (F) for.
3. Do I need to make an application to take a make-up exam?
No, you don’t need to make an application.
4. Can I take the make-ups for the exams that I have been previously denied because of the grades I received such as (NA), (W), (U) ?
No . You can only take the makeup exams that you have been granted.
5. Where can I find the information regarding make-up exams and make-up exam schedules?
You can see them in “Make-Up Exam Program” tab in “Final Program” application on st.bau.edu.tr.
6. Can I take make-up exams for the courses that I have taken in previous semesters?
- No. You can only take the make-up exams of the courses you are currently enrolled in.
7. Where can I find whether my final grade has changed or not after taking a make-up exam?
On course basis you can check your grade as letter success note individually which you got on final and make-up exam, in “My Notes” section on st.bau.edu.tr. The grade that you got on make-up exam, will be commited as your final letter success note and it will be reflected on your GPA and transcript.
8. How does a make-up exam grade reflect on my transcript and on my Grade Point Average?
The grade you have received from a make-up exam is computed as your final exam grade by your professor. A new average point for the course is calculated and it is converted to a letter grade and thus your final letter grade is achieved . Even if the grade you have received after taking a make-up exam is lower than the one you previously had, it is computed as the finalized grade and reflected on your transcript and GPA .
9.Should I take all the make-up exams that I am granted?
The avarage point of the make-up exam may be lower than your previous one. In any case, a make-up exam will finalize your avarage grade permanently; so, you should decide wisely whether or not take a make-up exam.
10. I have taken the make-up exam but left the room without answering the questions. What will happen to my grade?
As soon as you come to the exam room and receive the exam questions, you are offically considered to have taken the exam.Even if you hand in a blank answer sheet, the grade you receive for this very exam will be computed as your final grade.
11. What else should I be aware of?
- When there is any change on your final grade because of any reason like objection (etc.) for your any course, the other make-up exams that you can take might be changed. In this circumstances, make-up exams you took before that you had no rights to take, will be invalid. For example, while a student with 1,99 GPA could take make-up exams for all his/her courses with (C-) or lower grades before the objection, if his/her grade gets higher for any course and his/her GPA becomes 2,00 after the objection, he/she can take make-up exams for courses with (F) grades only. Student information system, controls all these changes dynamically, and your exam list that you can take might be changed. You should follow up the changes in “Final / Make-up Exam Program” application on st.bau.edu.tr. Therefore, making your objections for grades as soon as you see your final grade will be better for you.
