4th International Drug Design Congress, which will last three days, began in Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Besiktaş campus.
Over 40 participants from Turkey and globally have attended the congress which will be held between 13-15 October. The major discussion topics are latest innovations in drugs, studies in areas such as cancer, HIV, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease in more than 80 presentations for three days at the congress.

Bahçeşehir University School of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Türker Kılıç has commented on the issue and said, “Assoc. Dr. Serdar Durdağı joined our Faculty of Medicine four years ago. Four years ago he had a goal. His target was to make drug design congress one of the most important meetings in Turkey.Indeed, he was so successful, it is organized for the fourth time. There are over 40 attendees in this meeting. This can be considered an important record for this field.Drug design is very important because the treatment of many diseases is now beginning in computer simulations.Computer simulations give researchers a great time in transferring a drug to daily life.Thus, sponsors are saving costs.In this drug design congress, speakers from all over the world are exchanging views on the design of drugs that will potentially enter the clinic use in the coming years. The realization of this in Turkey is a matter of pride on our side.”
"ANY DISEASE THAY AFFECTS HUMAN HEALTH WILL BE DISCUSSED"
Hosting the Congress organized for four years, Bahçeşehir University Medical School academic Assoc. Dr. Serdar Durdağı has stated, “We are organizing this year the fourth drug design congress.Each year, participants are increasing and we are hosting more scientific papers. The importance of this congress is that not only from academia, but also many participants from the industry and pharmaceutical companies from all over the world are attending. They share with us the latest developments in drug design.One of the areas where this congress pays greatest contribution is bringing together participants from both academia and industry to increase bilateral cooperation. There will be more than 80 oral presentations in the congress. Participants will present papers with more than 150 posters. They will share with us their studies not yet published in another medium. We are considering discussing rational drug design in this congress.Therefore, all kinds of diseases affecting human health will be discussed at the congress.”
Stating that the main theme of the congress will be cancer and related diseases, Durdağı said; “Cancer and similar diseases showing an increase in recent years in affecting people’s health are naturally one of the main themes of the congress. Diseases such as cancer, HIV and diabetes will be discussed in the congress for three days. There will be transfer of knowledge in the congress as to drug design, what kind of techniques have been developed in the development of new drugs and what the latest technology is. Therefore, when people go back from the congress, they will be able to reshape their studies in the light of these new ideas. And this can have very significant results. They can re-design their own studies in the laboratory according to this congress. They can create new alliances.”
