Democracy and National Unity Day (national holiday)

Registration period for 2024-2025 academic year fall semester - associate and bachelor's students (including international students) register for courses on UMIS. New first year students are assigned courses by this system. Medical and dental students register for their term classes during this period.

Transfer applications submissions for undergraduate programs (with the exception of transfers within the institution according to student GPAs). During the application process, English and Turkish Proficency Exams will be administered on 05-08-12-16 August, 2024. Students who have submitted all the required documents are eligible to take these exams. Students with a valid English/Turkish Proficiency Certificate must attach this document to their application forms.

Student Orientation - newly enrolled students are introduced to the University by the Dean of Students, Corporate Communications Directorate and the department in which the student is enrolled.

Course syllabi for the new academic year are entered into the Student Information System. It is imperative to include the syllabi for all courses and every lesson plan.

Core curriculum course EXEMPTION exams for students who have just started their university education (students who have registered for the program for the first time, passed the Language Proficiency Exam and started attending their courses) and the Student Affairs Office being notified of the exemption exam results. Announcements regarding these exams will be made to the students by the relevant departments. The General Education Unit is responsible for organizing and administering exemption exams for courses TLL1005-1006 offered to international students.

ADD/DROP week - Add/Drop week for all associate and bachelor's students

Deadline for all course adjustments to be entered into the system - adjustment entries (including double majors and minors) will be made on the system by the Department Adjustment Administrators. (Results must be entered into the system by 15:00.)

Elective courses with insufficient enrollment after ADD-DROP week will be closed on Wednesday, 02 October, 2024 (16:00), and associate and bachelor's degree students enrolled in these courses will have to choose other courses from the UMIS system by Friday, October 04, 2024 at 16:00. Elective course selection and registration will not take place after this date; the system will be closed. Students whose courses were dropped due to closure will be informed via SMS.

Deadline for students to pay their tuition (and other relevant fees.) Course registrations of students who fail to fulfil their financial obligations will be cancelled and these students will be regarded as “not having registered for a course” in that semester. Students themselves are liable for any courses that are not dropped from their schedule by this date, whether the system has assigned the course or the students themselves have registered for that course. Scholarship students are strongly advised to pay due attention to their course registrations.

Early final exam dates for Erasmus or World Exchange (or other similar programs) students who will be going abroad by way of the same program - To be eligible to sit these exams, students' departure dates must be confirmed and verified by means of a document from their institutions. NOT all students going abroad are eligible to take these exams; only those whose have conflicts or overlaps in their class schedules. The Global Academic Affairs and Programs Office is required to submit a list of students who will be taking these exams to the Office of the President by Monday,15 December, 2023. The list will then be sent to the relevant departments, which will determine and announce the early exam dates. These students must take all their final exams on these early dates and are not eligible to sit them during the finals scheduled at the normal time.

English Preparatory Program - Last day of summer school classes

SUMMER SCHOOL

Summer school course registrations - There is no ADD-DROP period and no withdrawals from courses in summer school. (Students who request additional exams must also enroll in summer school courses; if they graduate after taking the make up exam, they must cancel their summer school courses from the Student Affairs Office.

Summer school courses that do not meet the minimum criteria to stay open will be cancelled by the Academic Planning Directorate around 11:00 am, and the affected students will be notified via SMS. It is the students' responsibility to enter the system one last time, on Thursday, 3 July, 2025 to check the courses in their programs. Those whose courses have been dropped due to course cancellation can register online for other courses on 3 July, 2025. Courses which are still in demand, despite not having met the requirements to stay open, will not be regarded as part of the instructors' workload, nor will they be reflected in their salary.

Deadline for students who have registered for summer school during the 2024-2025 academic year to pay any outstanding fees. Course registrations of students who have failed to make the required payments will be canceled, including summer school enrollment. Summer School courses for which there has not been sufficient student registration will be closed. Students whose courses have thus been dropped will not be able to re-register for these courses after Friday, 4 July, 2025 whether or not they have settled their outstanding debts.
