Announcement of the Additional Exam dates (Academic Planning Directorate)

Final registration procedures of students whose applications for program changes with respect to their GPAs, for Double major and Minor programs have been accepted. Students who fail to complete their registrations shall lose their rights. It is essential that the lists of students who have finalized their registrations to Double major and Minor programs, are submitted to the respective departments on the same day so that their course adjustments can be implemented promptly.

Start of year-long courses for first year students in the Faculty of Medicine

ADDITIONAL Exams for Associate and Undergraduate degree students who have met their graduation requirements at the end of the 2020-2021 Spring Semester and Summer School and are eligible for the Additional exams pursuant to the academic regulations, and submission of the exam results to the Registrar's Office by the respective Dean’s Offices.

Course registration period. Online registration of the students in the Associate and Undergraduate degree programs (including International, Erasmus and World exchange students). Students who have registered for their freshman/first year courses in the Spring Semester for the first time (irregular students) will be required to register online for some of their courses and some of their courses will be assigned by SAP. During the ADD-DROP week, the newly-registered irregular students may make some changes in the courses that have been assigned by the system. Students in the Faculty of Medicine are required to register for their one (1)-semester courses during this period.

The courses of the newly registered first year students who have passed the English Proficiency Exam will automatically be entered into the system by the Student Application System (SAP). These students will not register for any courses. Except for the incoming first-year/freshman students, all the other Transfer, International and any other students whose course adjustments have been implemented/completed in the system, are required to register online, on their own during the regular course registration period, in accordance with the registration regulations and the academic calendar.

Elective courses for which there has not been sufficient student registration during the regular course registration period shall be cancelled on 08 October 2021, Friday (at 16:00). Associate and Undergraduate degree students who have previously registered to any of these cancelled courses are required to register online through the SAP system to some other elective courses between the dates 18-22 October 2021 (during the ADD-DROP week).

Deadline for the submission of course adjustments for Double Major and Minor programs to the Registrar’s Office. These courses will be entered into the system by the Registrar’s Office.

Classes start for all Associate and Undergraduate degree students. (Refer to the Academic Calendar for the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry)

Start of Turkish Preparatory Program classes

Opening Ceremony for the 2021-2022 Academic year, with the participation of the students in the English-Turkish Preparatory, Associate, Undergraduate and Graduate degree programs; their parents and all the other guests. Time: 16:00 Place: to be announced later according to the program.

Orientation program for the newly-registered students at the university, organized by their respective departments, the Student Dean’s Office and the Corporate Communication Directorate.

Posting the Course Syllabi in the SAP system. This is very important and a Course Syllabus must be posted in the system for each individual Course.

Core curriculum course EXEMPTION exams for students who have just started university education (students who have registered to the program for the first time, passed the Language Proficiency Exam and started attending their programs) and notification of the Registrar's Office about the Exemption exam results. Announcements regarding these exams will be made to the students by the relevant departments. The General Education Unit is responsible for organizing and giving the exemption exams regarding the courses TLL1005-1006 offered to International Students.

ADD-DROP week for all Associate and Undergraduate degree students.

Elective courses for which there has not been sufficient student registration during the ADD-DROP week will be cancelled on 20 October 2021 Wednesday (at 16:00). Associate and Undergraduate degree students who have previously registered to one of these cancelled courses are required to register online, through the SAP system to some other elective courses by 22 October 2021 Friday (until 16:00). Students will not be able to register for or choose any elective courses after this date. Students whose courses have been dropped due to the cancellation of these courses shall be notified by SMS that they are regarded as having dropped the cancelled courses. However, it is the responsibility of the students to enter the system on 21 October 2021 Thursday, to check the courses on their programs and see if there are any courses they may have dropped. Elective courses which are still in demand, even though there has not been sufficient student registration, will not be taken into account regarding the teaching workload or payment to the course instructor.

Deadline for students, who have registered for a course by some means or other, to fulfil their financial obligations. Course registrations of students who fail to fulfil their financial obligations will be cancelled and these students will be regarded as “not having registered for a course” in that semester. The students themselves are liable for any courses that are not dropped from their syllabus by this date, whether the system has assigned the course or the students themselves have registered for that course. Scholarship students are strongly advised to pay due attention to their course registrations.

Scheduling of the mid-term exams for the Fall Semester and their announcement by the respective academic units. In accordance with the academic regulations, at least one written mid-term exam must be scheduled for each course. Submission of the decisions reached by the Faculty/School boards regarding how the mid-term /final exams- other than the written exams - are to be administered (i.e. oral, homework) to the Academic Planning Unit. In the event of an appeal made for re-evaluation of an exam, it is essential to provide documented evidence to support the appeal (such as a jury report, camera recording, etc.). Early Final exams for Associate and Undergraduate degree students who are studying at our University within the scope of Erasmus, World exchange or by some other means and for students who will be going abroad within the scope of similar programs. The departure dates of the students who are eligible for these exams must have been finalised and need to be verified by a document from their respective Schools or Faculties. Not all students going abroad are eligible for these exams. Students can take these exams only if there is an overlapping in their academic schedules. The BAU Global Academic Affairs and International Programs Office is required to submit the list of eligible students to the Office of the President by 24 December 2021 Monday, to be forwarded to the respective Units.The students on these lists are notified of the exam dates scheduled by their respective departments. Students who are entitled to take early final exams are required to take all their final exams during the early final exam period. These students cannot take their final exams during the regular final exam period.

SPRING SEMESTER

Deadline for all students to pay any outstanding debts and fulfill their financial obligations for the Spring semester. The SAP system will not be open for the registration of students who have not fulfilled their financial obligations before the regular registration period and these students will not be able to register during the regular registration period.

Start of Spring Semester 1st and 2nd year courses in the Faculty of Medicine.

Course registration period. Online registration of the students in the Associate and Undergraduate degree programs (including International, Erasmus and World exchange students). Final registration procedures of students who are transfering from other institutions, or transfering internally with an OSYM score and those who are accepterd as special students. Students who fail to complete their registrations will lose their rights. It is essential that the lists of students who have finalized their registrations are submitted to the respective departments on the same day for necessary course adjustment.

Last day of Fall Semester professional practice courses for the 5th year students in the Faculty of Medicine.

Deadline for submitting the grades of the Additional Make-up exams held between March 01 and March 04, 2022 to the ÖİDB (by 13:00). ÖİDB will enter the grades on the same day.

Submission of the names of the highest-ranking students in the graduating class, determined by the decisions of the Board of Directors of the respective academic units, to the Office of the President and the Registrar’s Office. (until 12 o’clock noon) The rankings of the students who have graduated cannot be changed after this date. The class rankings of the students who are not in their graduating year are finalized at the end of October, in the new Academic year.

SUMMER SCHOOL

Summer school course registrations. There is no ADD-DROP period and no withdrawals from the summer school (Students who apply for the additional exam must also enroll in the summer school courses; if they graduate as a result of the additional exam, they should drop the summer school course from the ÖİDB).

Courses that do not meet the conditions required for opening a course in the Summer School Period shall be cancelled by the Academic Planning Directorate around 11:00 and students who are regarded as having dropped those courses will be notified by SMS. It is the responsibility of the students to enter the system one last time, on 28 July 2022 Thursday, to check the courses in their programs. Students who are regarded as having dropped a course due to cancellation of a course can register online for another course through the system, on 28 July 2022. Courses which are still in demand, even though they do not meet the required conditions, will not be taken into account regarding the teaching workload or payment to the course instructor.

Deadline for students who have registered for courses in the 2021-2022 Summer School, to complete the financial procedures. Deadline for students who have, by some means or other registered for courses to fulfil their financial obligations. Course registrations of students who have failed to fulfil their financial obligations will be cancelled and these students will be regarded as not having registered for any courses in the Summer School period. Summer School courses for which there has not been sufficient student registration will be cancelled. Students whose courses have been dropped will not be able to re-register for these courses after 29 July 2022 Friday, even if they settle their financial problems.
